The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier autonomous Institute under the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, and Government of India, in the field of wildlife research, teaching and training. The Institute wishes to engage two (02) Project AssistantGrade II (Indian National only) under the Project titled “Habitat improvement and
conservation breeding of Great Indian Bustard: An Integrated Approach” on a contractual basis initially for a period of one year. However, the same may be extended depending on the candidate’s performance and the programme needs. The work description, essential and
desirable qualifications, age (as on date of advertisement) and monthly emoluments for the required position are given in Annexure – 1.


Mode of Selection

The candidate should report at Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Chandrabani, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, with original application and documents for scrutiny of documents at 09:30 hours on Monday, 30th March 2020, followed by a Written Examination on the same day at
10:30 to 12:00 hours


(i) The written examination will be for one hour and comprise of multiple-choice objective questions (25 marks) and a one-page essay on relevant conservation issue (25 marks). For Project Assistant (Gr-II, S. No. 1), multiple-choice questions test will be based on Ecology,
Grassland Ecosystems, Bustard Biology and Animal Husbandry, while for Project
Assistant (Gr-II, S. No. 2) multiple-choice questions test will be based on Basics of
Computer Science, Data Management, Statistics, Remote Sensing and GIS. The essay will
be common for both the positions. Candidates should clearly opt for the choice of the
position for which they would be giving the test while filling the application form.
(ii) Result of the written exam will be announced by the evening of 30th March, 2020 at the
Institute’s website and shortlisted candidates will be interviewed on 31st March 2020 from
10:00 hours onwards. The candidates are suggested to make stay arrangements
accordingly. No TA/DA shall be paid for attending the written test or the interview.
(iii) Application should be duly filled in the prescribed format, duly signed and should be
accompanied by self-attested copies of documents on educational qualifications,
research experience, UGC/CSIR/GATE certificate (if any), extracurricular activities, date
of birth, mark sheets of all examinations, community certificate (if sought
relaxation as per Government of India rules).


How to Apply

I. The entire process for registration shall be “Online”. Details for online registration and
test will be hosted on the WII’s website ( under recruitment
section. Online Registration shall begin on 26th February 2020 (09:00 hours) and
closes on 23rd March 2020 (17:30 hours), which is the last date of receipt of

III. All eligible interested candidates are advised to follow the latest updates on WII’s
website ( under recruitment section for online registration,
submission of application and payment of application processing fee, downloading of
admit card.
IV. Candidates will be required to enter their personal, educational and professional
experience profiles online besides uploading a recent passport size photograph.
Candidates will make the payment of application processing fee of Rs. 500/- (Rupees
Five hundred only) through the prescribed “Payment Gateway”. Candidates belonging
to SC/ST and OBC category need to pay only Rs. 100/- as communication fees.
V. The original documents must be produced for verification at the time of interview of
shortlisted candidates.
VI. Candidates must mention the Project Position applied for in their applications.
VII. The venue of written exam and interview will be Wildlife Institute of India (WII),
Chandrabani, Dehradun, Uttarakhand.


General Terms & conditions:

  1. The Institute will not provide accommodation, TA/DA for candidates appearing for
    written examination/interview.
  2. Incomplete applications/ application sent by Post/applications without the application
    fee are liable to be rejected.
  3. Mere fulfilment of the minimum advertised qualification and experience requirement
    DOES NOT automatically entitle an applicant to be called for written test / interview.
    The decision of the Institute in all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection
    of application, mode of selection will be final and binding upon the candidates and no
    enquiry or correspondence will be entertained from any individual or his / her agency.
  4. At the time of the verification of original documents or even after selection, if it is
    found that an attempt has been made by the applicant to willfully conceal,
    misrepresent or canvass the facts, such applicant will not be considered for selection
    and due action will be taken.
  1. Age relaxation: Relaxation in upper age shall be allowed in accordance with the
    Government of India, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions
    (Department of Personnel & Training) OM NO. 1501282/2010-Estt.(D) dated
    27.03.2012 as amended from time to time. However, the categories of upper age
    relaxation are as follows:
    a) Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and women candidates up to 5
    b) Other Backward Class (OBC) up to 3 years.
  2. The Director WII, reserves the right to reject any candidature in view of incomplete
    information provided by the candidate or for any other reason thereof.
